38. UUMISSION-BREAD UNIVERSITY: A BREIF OUTLINE

 

1) The Mission of Saving Souls

 

UUMission(UUMission: University Ubiquitous Mission) is a nonprofit organization for Christian evangelism, a soul-saving mission and social-cultural service whose purpose is expanding the Kingdom of God. The main goal of the mission is to supply theological lectures on the seminary level, lectures in liberal arts as college, and pre-college lectures for students in mission fields.

 

UUMission operates Bread University, a platform of theological education and cooperates with Reformanda (Institute of Christian Thought); Reformanda (Online Journal of Theology); and BREADTV, a theological and evangelical broadcasting.

 

UUMission is concerned with Christian responsibility and service to each nation, culture, and society, including issues such as politics, human rights, ethics, social problems, environmental stewardship, and our ecological mission to the world. But because of limited resources and the crisis of the decline of the Church, which is weakening the Christian population, we are concentrating our efforts on soul-winning mession and searching for those who will devote and dedicate their lives to a soul-saving mission.

 

UUMission’s educational mission for liberal arts and God’s mandate to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ are the activities that will create a happy, healthy society that is determined to win souls and expand the Kingdom of God, especially in financially poor countries.

 

2) Catalytic Renovation

 

UUMission supplies acute needs of missionaries and churches in mission fields. Undeniably, the most urgent need is the educational contents to train men and women as evangelists, ministers, and Christian workers, who will ably serve the Church of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.

 

Bread University is a platform, called MOOTE (Massive Open Online Theological Education) is a highly effective and creative platform, where men and women can receive a theological education and academic training to be good citizens and fishers of souls.

 

3) University Ubiquitous Mission (UUMission)

 

UUMission provides educational content and fundamental knowledge of theological studies on the seminary level; liberal arts on college and pre-college education in Chinese, Spanish, English and Korean. The purpose of UUMission is to train the disciples of Jesus as evangelists, church planters, and pastors.

 

The ubiquitous world and catalytic renovation of the communication system today make it possible to provide educational contents and the Bread of Life to the world in a massive, highly efficient way at low cost. Bread University is the name of this new educational system adopted ubiquitous technology, a platform that UUMission is building.

 

4) Empowering

 

All videos of BREADTV and theological lectures of Bread University are made intentionally to contain the saving Gospel of Jesus. The issues of the Bible, theology, church history, preaching, counseling, mission, and personal witness are presented in light of the salvific work of Jesus Christ, the Gospel, evangelism, and expanding the Kingdom of God.

 

We cherish the hope that the Lord opens our audience’s hearts to Jesus Christ (Acts 16:14), especially those who are glad to honor the Word of the Lord and receive eternal life (Acts 13:48). The Lord empowers people to be born again, sustains them to live fruitfully and sacredly, and supports them to carry on the mission given by Him to our ministry.

 

5) Confession of Faith

 

UUMission respects the Creative Reformed Tradition and evangelical beliefs, emphasizing the divine nature and authority of Scripture, the importance of human rationality, and the work of the Holy Spirit. We confess: ① The Bible is the  Word of God, special revelation of God containing the infallible words of God and the eternal truth of salvation. ② Jesus is the only mediator between God and human beings (1 Timothy 2:5). ③ The sovereignty of God requires human responsibility. ④ Anyone who believes in Jesus as the Christ is an immediate member of the Kingdom of God (John 3:16). ⑤ The Holy Spirit opens the hearts of those who hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ(Acts 16:14). ⑥ Our Lord Jesus Christ, surely, is with contemporary apostles, who are ministers of the Word, witnesses of the Cross, fishers of men and women, and save souls to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). Our God of 'immanuel' is faithful to fulfill his covenant.

 

6) The Founder

 

UUMission operates BREADTV, an online broadcasting network promoting and supplying the salvific Gospel of Jesus Christ, who is the Bread of Life (John 6:48). He alone gives eternal life.

 

Launched on December 26, 2016, BREADTV seeks the happiness of all people and supports the online educational system, Bread University, a platform supplying theological lectures. The name Bread University, Bread College, Bread Seminary, BREADTV is based on how Jesus characterized himself: “I am the bread of life” (John 6:48).

 

The founder and president, Reverend Douglass Choi, Ph.D., is a Christian theologian. He has served as professor of Theology at Korea Theological Seminary, Kosin University (1989-2009), Harvard University (1997-1998), and presently as president of Peniel Theological Seminary (2013-). Dr. Choi has studied at Kosin University, University of North Carolina, Reformed Theological Seminary, Yale University, and Emory University. He is the author of over 20 academic books and many articles in English and Korean.
